Feather dusters and other things starting with feather

So a street vendor appeared at my gate earlier this week...this happens a lot...with children constantly out in the garden they know there is someone home to try sell their wares too.
I try support where I can but there are only so many feather dusters one person can buy.
So when this poor lady started her speech I was already preparing to wave my handful of feather dusters at her when she suddenly pulled out a feather

platter

hand carved (apparently anyway)

I was hooked, so I got me a feather platter, isn't it pretty?

And it's far too lovely to pack away until I get some visitors to offer snacks too, so instead I've put it on my candle table

And then I used it to take a bunch of photos...so here are some of those

I *heart* my feather platter, I'm so pleased I didn't just chase the vendor away!!!

Cakes

The other day I was up at my sister's shop taking photos of some her cakes that were off to the wedding expo...while uploading the photos it occurred to me I don't think I've ever shared here what my sister does.
She makes the most amazing cakes, and has a booming cake & coffee shop business.
You can see some of her work at Magnolia

But here is what I was taking pics of the other day - so pretty!

Oh the places you will go!

So what do you get someone whose been all over the world?
Why you get them a cake set with all the destinations they've been to stamped into the handles...so they can have their cake and eat it too :)

And here's just one last little crochet hat...this one is made with the most divine organic yarn!

Afghan in circles

So it's done, and it's lovely!
I used Lionbrand's Homespun yarn in pesto, cherry blossom and tudor (2 balls of each), and followed the pattern included on the label.

My baby girl approves :)
And so does my baby baby

You're the apple of my eye

I started off making a lady bug hat but some how it turned into an apple...magic I tell you!
Then I used some gorgeous chunky blue wool to make this sweet little newborn hat

And a Pixie hat

All the hats I've been busy with have been made for a lovely photographer to use as props in her newborn shoots.  This week she was kind enough to send me some photos to show me how they're being used and her photos are absolutely gorgeous.  Isn't this little guy the sweetest thing ever?
